MBK Lateral: BOC Movement Reaches Out to Lateral Recruits

Pursuing the call to reach out to police officers who was inducted to the PNP via lateral recruitment, the Bless Our Cops team composed of Boi Manuel, Dan Afuang and Jeremy Dellosa visited the recruits and took part of their training activities at the National Police College at Silang Cavite last January 31, 2013 .

The BOC team who took part of the formal training of the National Police College offered a two day team building seminar to all 384 recruits of the PNP Kabuklod Class of 2013 focusing on Solidarity, Unity and Teamwork. It was a way for the BOC team to also get in touch with the rest of the lateral entry recruits who would also be a working partner for the field volunteers of the Movement.

On the first day, they offered a banner making activity wherein individuals would represent themselves using symbols drawn or cut figures from illustration boards and would incorporate them with their team mates representations making a collage of symbols that embodies their team. They would then name their group based on their symbols and would make a banner that represents all their aspirations.

The teams would then have to work together and strategize against other teams as they go against other teams in a good old fashion game of dodgeball. Teams strategized, organized and executed their defensive and offensive plans against other opposing teams as they took turn in hitting and being hit by each other.

On the second day the teams explained the concepts behind their names and also talked about the importance of teamwork and realizing their dreams to their fellow batchmates. They also had a chance to work with the FAITH Blocks (a designed piece activity workshop for strategy and teambuilding) and visualize their dream police stations and police organizations.
The blocks taught the power of dreaming big for their organization and visualizing the standards that they want to implement in the organization.

The event ended with a testimony of PCI Marjo Bongat who shared his experience as a Police Station Commander in Mindanao and how he was tempted as a young officer and how by the grace of God he has survived the lures of the temptation. He ended with a prayer for the group that they continue their training without casualties and that God will provide them strength and favor as they become police officers.
The BOC team then assembled the 22 members of the Kabuklod class who joined the MBK program. The group includes lawyers doctors, nurses, chemists, criminologists, mariners and PNCOs who rose from the ranks of police non-commissioned officers. They were further instructed to ensure that succeeding batches will also be part of the program.
The My Brother’s Keeper is an accountability partnership and network wherein Christians Police Officers are given accountability partners (mostly upperclass officers) that would help them pursue a Godly life amidst the temptations in the lives of a Police Officer. The Police Officers who signed in for the program includes PSI Mercy Ann Teus, PSI Anne Grace Garcia, PI Joseph Distor and PI Pauline Padua of the Health Service; PSI Thorrson M. Keith and PSI Catherine Tamayo of the Legal Service; PSI Rodelia Nicolas and PI Jerrop Panaligan of the Crime Lab Group; PI Roberto Fajardo and PI Richard Macachor of the CIDG; PI Kristoffer King Ramos, PI Reynante Organista, PI Leonilo Ancheta, PI Antonino Cuaresma, PI Juan Jhayar Maggay, PI Roger Baling-Oay of PRO 1 ; PI Esem Galiza of PRO 2; PI Danilo Liberato, PI Ailyn Rosario and PI Noemi Diaz of PRO 3.
