When The Saints Came Marching In: My Brother’s Keeper Commissions Class of 2013

Another year and another PNPA class was again routinely commissioned into the My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) program of the CORPS Movement Foundation. Things were beginning to be routinely boring … …when all of a sudden a platoon of police officers in their fatigue marched through the gates of the Upperroom of the Cadet Christian Fellowship at the PNPA in Silang Cavite.

To everyone’s surprise that was a first this year.

For the first time in the MBK’s history, Thirty lateral inducted police officers who are training at the nearby Philippine Public Safety Colleges stormed in and joined the My Brother’s Keeper program as part of this year’s ceremonies.

The lateral police officers who regularly attends Sunday service at the CCF’s upper room underwent the CORPS Movement’s accountability program wherein they will be guided by senior officers in their Christian walk alike the cadets of the Tagapamagitan Class of 2012. The details of the program will be formally incorporated once the incoming class reports at Camp Crame

The Tagapamagitan class also administered a turn-over ceremony wherein their leaders gave the key positions of the CCF to underclass cadets who will take up leadership roles in the CCF. Ptr. Raymond Go who also serves as their spiritual father gave the class his final admonition and advise as class 2013 as they set off different branch of services.

PSUPT Dionicio “Jun” Borromeo gave an inspirational message base on the essence of the My Brother’s Keeper program to the newly commissioned cadets. He pointed out that question “Am I My Brother’s Keeper?” is encompassing to all and discusses our Christian obligation to others. He encouraged everyone to care and be accountable to all Christian brothers.

At the MBK Ceremony Proper, MBK T-Shirt printed with a Police Officer’s creed was given for the first time to the commissioned officers. Bro, Boi Manuel who presided the ceremony explained that Christian Officers should be like Superman who in the outside maybe part of the world but in the inside posses supernatural powers (like faith and determination) ready to take on the forces of Evil.

The G-Men (Government Ministry) of the Christ Commission Fellowship through Brother Noel Pascual also gave out Daily Breads to the officers as part of their basic kit so that they could be guided by God’s word in their daily lives. This was followed by the ceremonial pinning of the ranks, signing of the Police Officers Creed and commission prayer.

At the end, both the PNPA and Lateral Class of 2013 are both been blessed to be part of the program as they prepare to enter their respective services.
